We love what you have contributed to country western music and to Bakersfield California!
The restoration of your beloved family home is a labor of love for us!
Our mom loved her home just like your mom loved her boxcar home!
Kern County Museum is a perfect resting place for both of these homes and the memory of two fine ladies!

I work in a skilled nursing facility. One of my patients talks about Merle Haggard and Buck Owens daily and the time he went to a concert in Bakersfield. He loves you guys. Thanks for the memories you have shared through the years.

my favourite song of merles at the moment is when my blue moon turns to gold,
the ways merle sings it is beautiful, I don’t think its meant to be a fast song
like the others sing it, this song was written in 1941 and has been covered almost every year by a different artist since then but merles version is still the best in my opinion .. very nice song, well done merle !

  • jeff | Oct 31, 2013 at 11:37 am

  • Tony Buggs | Oct 31, 2013 at 7:17 am

My earliest memories were when my Dad, Grandpa, uncle and family friends all came home off the road, (all were truck drivers back in the 60′ & 70′s). When all were home at the same time we all gathered at Grandpa’s house and they (adults) would sit and play poker. Being a lil boy at the time, i was told lay on the couch and go to sleep… but what i really did was listen to the adults and listen to the music. They always had country & western going (plus the old truck driving songs) like Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. Even as a lil boy Merle was my favorite. And has to this day. Of all the music downloaded on my computer, Merle Haggard is by far played the most (thank God computer music dont wear out like cassettes and cd’s!) Now (at 50) I have three 4yr olds. And my daughter loves it when I have Merle Haggard playing…. the family tradition continues!

    Hi Merle,

I am hoping you might read this as I am taking my Dad to see you in Carmel. My Dad is a Vietnam Vet and loves your music and the principle that are within it. I first really gave your music a hard listen a couple years ago and it embodies who my Dad is and what he stands for like you. If you happen to read this could you please say hello to him as he rarely leaves the house and would make this trip to see you special. His name is Allen. We will be on the right looking out from the stage in the lowerbox seats!

  • Mike Herron | Oct 30, 2013 at 7:06 pm

Looking forward to seeing Merle tomorrow night in Carmel In. A living Legend! I’ve enjoyed listening to all his music dating back to the beginning of his career. I’ve been making up for lost time since my all time favorite since childhood has been Johnny Cash. I’m ashamed its take. Me this long to realize just how much I enjoy Merle’s music . I can’t wait to hear him tomorrow. I hope he sings “The Running Kind ” .

I have been blessed to see you many times when you came to Texas over the years. My Mama loved you and always on Saturday morning she would play records of you Willie and Loretta Lynn and many others. But she proclaimed her love for you. Grew up listening to all the old country. I still love it today and it’s about the only thing I listen to. Can’t get enough of it. What are we going to do, when all you guys are gone.

Hey Merle! Im taking my grandfather to your concert in Stockton, CA at the Bob Hope Theatre on December 7th, 2013. All the ticket websites are showing you’re playing in Napa, CA on that day. Should I buy the tickets to the show in Napa?

  • D Patrick | Oct 29, 2013 at 6:33 pm

    Hello,
Your show in Brookings, SD this summer was very good. Enjoyed your tunes very much. Shooter probably could have brought a band and may did a couple of his Dad’s tunes for the older crowd. Who were the young guys that did a Marty Robbins tune and the other classics?

Keep up the great tunes. Dan, Drummer, White Creek Band.

  • Richard Starnes | Oct 29, 2013 at 1:34 pm

I have always enjoyed your music you are a legend, but I have a 16 yr old that would just die to see you perform, he loves you and your music, and one of my wishes is for him and I to see you before anything happens to me with my health problems, he a young man with old school roots. Between Merle , Hank, and DAC ya are is favorites. Thanks

  • Tracy Scraper | Oct 28, 2013 at 6:10 pm

I just turned 48 Oct. 8. I 1st heard you when I was 6. My dad bought a stereo with an 8 track player and when my mom & I came home for the evening, he sent us to buy some tapes. Just so happened that our grocery store sold them. My mom bought 1 of your tapes along with a Charlie Pride & Dean Martin. The very 1st time I heard you sing, I was hooked. Through the years with me listening to everything from Rock -n- Roll, to R&B, to the Classics, whenever I was asked who was my favorite singer or band, I thought of you. I will be at your concert on Oct. 29, 2013 at the Centre in Evansville, IN. I would love to shake your hand and have you sign my ticket. No disrespect, but with my health and your age, I doubt I will ever be able to see to you again in concert. If shaking your hand or signing my ticket is impossible, I would love to hear you sing “It’s all in the movies” for me. Thank you and God Bless You. Tracy Scraper

  • Peggy DePuy | Oct 28, 2013 at 5:38 pm

Just got home from myrtle beach sc where I saw you again. Whenever you are close I go. This was a 5 hour trip bit worth it . Theresa is so nice and friendly. Feel like you’ve known her forever. I’m planning on Cherokee in February. Been following you since 1972. Got all your music starting with 8 tracks. Saw you first at the shady grove. Great venue. One thing for sure no one will ever fill your shoes. BTW it was my phone you signed that played Mama Tried. That’sy sons ringtone and he goes with me everytime. Don’t ever change!!! ????

I have wanted to see you in concert for many years. I think that you are the greatest country singer that ever existed. Maybe you will be back this way sometime. Good luck to you and your family.
