Hi Merle,
I am very glad that you have finally left our fair city to go home to recuperate. The Medical Center does have some very good doctors on staff and I am glad they were able to diagnose all your problems and fix them so we will be able to continue to enjoy you and your music for many more years. My husband is a HUGE FAN and has all of your old albums, cassettes, and now cds. He met you a few years back when you played in a bar known as Whiskey River and has a picture of you and him standing at your tour bus. His hope is that one day soon he will have the opportunity to get that picture autographed and be able to shake your hand. The picture is framed and hangs on our wall with a lot of pride. We were at the concert that got cancelled and will definitely be hanging onto our tickets to see you in April when you return. We met a lady at the concert that night (she was sitting beside us) that told us this concert would have been her 28th Merle Haggard concert. She drove 150 miles and says we will see her in April because she will definitely be there. Take care of yourself and you will continue to be in our prayers.
Merle pray that you are doing lots better and are home by now. We missed not seeing you at Billy Bob,s last Sat. but understand. I am 77 yrs. old and know there is no place like home when feeling bad. Our thoughts and PRAYERS are with you and your family. Have been a fan for a long time and my favorite song,s of yours are ROOTS OF MY RAISIN AND IF WE MAKE IT THROUGH DECEMBER. You take care and hope you get to make it to Oklahoma sometime this year as we will be there.
Merle–Hope you are resting well & enjoying your family. You are one of the 3 best singers I have heard in Person. The other 2 are Hank Williams SR. & Luciano Pavarotti. Have seen your shows 12 to 15 times and enjoyed them all immensly. See you in Folsom March 6.

Merle I saw you in Monroe,La. Jan.12th,I could tell you were not your usual self.Then I heard you were in the hospital with pneumonia,I’m glad they found your other disorders so they can be treated before turning into something else.God is good & he will sustain us thru all. I am very thankful your home resting,I would like to keep you around a very long time.I also want your wife to know she also is in my prayers as I know how a man is when he is sick & in your case with the rambling fever.LOL LOL .I saw a picture of you holding Fannie May I also have a rat terrier,aren’t they great pets?I think your the absolute GREATEST,I probably have almost everything you recorded & I love to Karaoke to your songs ,I received a standing ovation & had my own fan club & they called me MERLETTA.Now ,How ’bout that? I’ll be looking forward to seeing you again ,if you get close enough to Oak Grove,La.I’ll be there.I saw you July 3 in Shreveport @ the Horseshoe Casino,Awesome!!! i went to a concert years ago at the red lion inn, in sacramento california and i was so close to the stage i just wanted to meet him in person real bad. he is my all time favorite singer in the world. and now i am trying to get tickets to his concert on march 2nd in laughlin nevada. i sure cant wait to hear him sing again, in person.
if there was a way for me to meet him this time around i would be the luckiest woman in the world. sure hope you feel better real soon.

GET WELL HAG IN2011was a bad year for you & me a triple by-pass & stroke with the lords help we can & will find out how to burn water at the belterra casino on 4-13-12 . I looked this date up it’s friday the 13th. I will be there if lord is willing.

So glad to hear you are on the mend. Gosh I hope I get to see you if you make it to Columbia, SC in April. Didn’t have the money when you were supposed to come this month. Love you and your music!! People have always said how much my Dad looks like you – moreso than his own brother! Would love to meet you in person one day!

I, too, am a miracle of The LORD, I was diagnosed with lung cancer also in 2008. I go back each year to BJC Hospital Washington University for CT scans. The Lord sent me a wonderful Doctor!! He guided his hands and I did not even need chemotherapy.
God bless and keep you Merle. We got to see you 3 times last year and plan to see you at the Ryman in April. Keep the Faith.

Merle, I grew up listening to your music in the backseat of my parents Monte Carlo. My dad wouldl play your cassettes whenever we were in the car. My siblings and I can probably name every word to every song you ever sang. Occasionally for fun we see who can name the most songs or the next line in a song. It’s always fun and it always reminds us of our childhood listening to your music. From “Always Wanting You”, to “Kernn River”, to “Branded Man” we know them all. Thank you for being the sound track to our childhood. I wish you all the best and I hope that you make a quick and full recovery.
