Merle, i am so glad that you have excepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. I have been listening to your songs and music for many years. You wrote and sang a lot of songs about your wonderful Mama, and that always touched my heart. It was just my Mama and me for the first 18 years of my life and of course i was a Mama’s baby. When Mama was still alive, i would play my guitar and sing Mama Tried to her and the tears would just flow from her eyes. I still play your Gospel CD”S every time i get in my truck and one of my favorite songs is The Old Rugged Cross and you have added a verse telling us about your Mama and your old friend Jesus Christ. Merle, i admire you and I will keep you in my prayers. I thank God for the miracles that he performed in your life . God is an awesome God !!!!!…. By the way , i am an OKie from Hugo which is about 60 miles from Muskogee.

I have listened to you from the age of ten. I would clean our house when my mom was working and I listened to the radio. We grew up on country music. Late at night we would tune in to the COFFEE DRINKING NIGHT HAWKERS. God Bless you for your music and keep it coming. Stay healthy and safe. A friend and I just saw you last night at Loretta Lynns ranch. It was great. I have always wanted to see you in concert…called it my bucket list..haha Well it earned its spot there. Dearest Merle Haggard,
I have had the honor of being at 5 different concerts. The latest already 2 father’s Day’s ago in Bend, Oregon. You & your Beautiful Family are so Awesome. When u came out of your bus, I hollored “Happy Father’s Day Merle” & u looked right at me & said “Thank You”, I then said We LOVE U Merle, U looked right at me again & said “I LOVE U TOO” You Melted my Heart ! I also got to meet little Ben the year before & Noel a second time on that f-Day concert. Even a pic with Noel. You have been in my life since a very little girl. I am now 52. I grew up listening to you & watching you win all your awards, The Johnny Cash show etc. Our Family was Nut’s over you & my dad taped EVERYTHING Reel to Reel….(Which he still has)….I hope & Pray someday I will get to meet you…I came close on that last concert. We followed u out , When passed ur Big Chief Bus on Hwy 97 we honked & your driver blew the train horn, that was the neatest thing….( Little Mother Trucker’s Pilot Service ) on my Jeep Cherokee Windows. Merle Haggard I had seen you 3 times at Billy Bobs TX in my early twenties 14ish years ago. I had no appreciation for your tunes then as I do now. I can’t believe how much George Strait pays tribute to you in recording your songs. He was my alltime favorite singer until this year. I am a #LovetheHAG guy now. cuz you write it you pick it and at 75 you still sing it as good as you did when your wrote them big hits!!!
I caught your show in Pigeon Forge TENN 04-12-12 it was awesome!

We saw you in Amarillo a couple of nights ago. This was our third time seeing you in concert. It was an awesome performance. I had prayed during my quiet time that the lord would do something great the morning of the concert. Within a couple of hours of that prayer my son came running into our hotel room telling me that he rode up on the elevator with you. He was so thrilled as he too is a musician. He will never forget that. Unfortunately, he was so starstruck when he saw you, he could not even tell what a big fan he is. He carried his guitar and a sharpie the rest of the day in hopes of seeing you again. Anyhow, glad to hear that the Lord has healed you. Thank you for your testimony… I’m sure god will use it in wonderful ways”

We just saw your show last night in Amarillo Texas! What a fantastic show it was! We came to your show a while back in Clovis at the outdoor concert you stole the show there! And the last time you were in Amarillo and it was a great as well but we were worried as you didn’t seem to be feeling that good. We are really huge fans and last night’s concert was for my husband’s birthday present! So he my mother in law and myself came to your concert and we were just absolutely amazed!! It was like you were “30 again” Wow! We couldn’t figure out your miraculous turn around! But it all makes sense after reading your story! God Bless you Merle! That you give the Glory to God is the best part! Take care and please come back to Amarillo when you can!! We love you!!

Congratulations Merle on your recovering health. Indeed God and forgiveness have everything to do with this. I have met you up close and personal and was shocked at what an ass I thought you were. Judgement isn’t for me to decide, so I just prayed for you that day. I did dig a little into your past and I thought to myself, no wonder. Music seems to speak to society’s hearts and who people are really doesn’t seem to matter when we are great stars. We all seem to find God during tragities. As i battle with breast cancer, I think of your health battles and how you have dealt with them through faith, perseverance and of course, your music. You have spoken for the common man, spoken your personal truth and how you see the world. I hope your are doing well sir! At 43 and an amateur singer, music is helping me as I face my own cancer. Well i want to start by saying thank you. Im 36 and since i could remember my dad always played your music. He like got lung cancer and spread to his brain but he was so tough he still tried to be the dad he always was. Well one day i was at work and heard them advertise for your show at emu in ypstilanti mi. I got to take my dad to see you it was our first and last concert together. He just loved it. Thank you for continuing to do what u do and helping to make that memory for me. My dad passed on 9 11 11. And everytime i here momma tried or any hag jam i remember that day.

I love your comments. I think the man upstairs loves your voice just as much as we all do! You truly have a God given talent and you should be so proud! I turned 40 this past March and I’ve listened to you all of my life. I’ve been blessed to hear you on my daddy’s radio as I used to ride with him in his tow truck around our tiny little town in Virginia at the ripe old age of 7 or 8!! I’m so elated I’ve been able to see you in concert twice. I wish it could be more often but I can sing along with you everyday on all of the CD’s I have of you! Dear Merle, Can’t believe I am only hearing your music, for the first time in my life, now at age 65. For some reason I never listened to CW, having grown up in the midwest (my great loss!). But driving from MN to AZ recently, I found myself drawn to a CW radio station, and literally was emotionally drawn to your voice on a song, which I can’t even remember. Just this past month I picked up my 1st CD of yours in a Walmart bin for $5 and have listened to it so many times, I can make a sad attempt to mimmick your yodeling style in the hobo song. One last thing, I started praying for you before I heard you were ill or had been hospitalized. I’ve been reading every website on your life, and upset I missed your PBS special a few years back. I just knew somehow we were family, in Christ. We’ll probably never meet this side of heaven, but someday I pray we’ll meet face to face in eternity, where there is no more sorrow or tears, rejoicing in our Savior’s great love for us.

Best of health to you and your family Merle, I absolutely love your music and have for the past 40 years, I too was at San Quentin State Prison, in 1973 as a 22 yr. old Correctional Officer, I worked up on Norht Seg. “The Shelf” or old death row, with Sirhan Sirhan, Bobby Beasoleil a manson family member, Bobby Davis who killed 4 Calif. I am country girl from Bakersfield and as far back as I can remember have loved you and you music. My grandma used to tell me the story of when she and my grandpa and kids came to Bakersfield from Tulsa, Oklahoma during the dust bowl for a better life. She told me you and your family came at the same time and your family and mine spent time together on the trip over. What a great story for me to pass on to my kids, to tell them their grandma and great grandma spent time with such an amazing artist. You are truly an amazing man with an amazing past and future.
