Let Me Testify

Hag Editorial

So there is NO misunderstanding, let me testify, the power of the healing our

Heavenly Father has bestowed upon me. In ’08 I was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Most everyone knows that’s a death sentence! Not in my case!

More recently I was diagnosed with a heart problem in two hospitals, in Ft. Worth

and in Bakersfield. Either they both malfunctioned exactly the same way, or

once again, the Lord stepped in and altered the condition. An angiogram proved it

all wrong. My heart is perfect!

It’s almost embarrassing to know that the Lord cares

that much for me. But, I am gonna shout it to the entire world. He healed me either

at my request or someone else’s There were a lot of prayers involved

He also guided the hands of other special doctors and was able to properly relocate

my Atlas. But never for a moment do I give credit or claim any myself.

The Man upstairs is still in charge.

I am gonna be 75 this coming April and I am a walking miracle

I might add a Healthy miracle.

I give all the thanks to my Heavenly Father and to my

wonderful family, Theresa, Jenessa and Bennie.

Mr. Haggard, I want to start off by saying, May the Lord be with you in this time illness. My grandpa “Roger Rowton” has listened to you for many many year’s now, He think’s there is no-one like you :) I’m 22 year’s old and also know every song you have ever wrote. My favorite would be “Mama tired” and “Silver Wings”….those two song’s are amazing, as well as all of your other song’s and albums.

Wow. What an awsome testimony. I was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer late 2004. No surgery. Chemo/Radiation and Targeted therapy. I too am a miracle. Can’t figure out why God wants me around either. I’m 50 and i’ve been stable for 6 years now. 2012 will be my 8th anniversay.

I grew up listening to your music (thanks to my brother). I like all kinds of music, but I’ve never heard any as good as yours. Still a fan. Always will be. Thanks for sharing your amazing life with us. Sharron.

    Hi Merle,
So happy to hear you are doing well and your health has improved. I was diagnosed with NSLC awhile ago and will have surgery Jan. 3rd. 2012. It sure is a scary thing, but knowing if an old fool like you can beat it then and old fool like me can too. No one is guaranteed another tomorrow so we must live each day to the fullest and thank the Lord for it. My prayers and thoughts will always be with you. Have loved your music since you first started out and still do so keep it coming.

Hero?! As an ol’ scudder I don’t have heros; only Merle stands by himself!

I admire Merle for everything that he has overcome. Everything!

When each of us takes a moment to give ourselves a “pity me!” look only to Merle in order to gain courage in overcoming adversity, then strength can be recognized by each of us.

If all the whinners in this world would follow the pathway that Merle has followed then each, and all, of the whinners would be made the better and be made stronger.

    Merle, I salute you!

Merle, God is great, isn’t He! I have been a fan since the age of 5. You were my parents favorite singer, which transferred to me and I am proud to say that my daughter, age 9 is a big fan. She breaks into If We Make Through December, Silver Wings, and Old Man from the Mountain spontaneously and often! I have seen you in concert 4 times over the years, the first time was around 1970 at the Macon Coliseum in Macon, Ga. I am very happy to see you are coming to Macon again. I have 6 tickets for my family and a couple friends on the 6th row at the City Auditorium and Molly is extremely excited! Stay healthy and God Bless!

Merle I’m so glad to hear you are doing good and especially that you are giving God the glory. I have been a fan of yours since my high school days in the early seventies. I use to sing a lot of your songs and since I have rededicated my live to singing for the Lord I have taken some of your songs and rewrote them to Christian lyrics. Okie From Muskogee to Bible Totin’ Christian, Farmers Daughter to This Man Called Jesus, The Fightin’ Sid Of Me to When Your Runnin’ Down My Savior, Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down to Tonight My Jesus Picked Me Up, and Always On A Mountain to My Saviors Hand. I call these your songs because if they turn any heads it’s because they recognize them as Merle Haggard songs. My hope and prayer is that the Lord could use them to bring someone to know Him. I would love to send you the words that I put to your music and maybe you might even enjoy singing them. I still enjoy singing your old songs. I have seen you many times in consert years ago and would love to see you again someday. As a Christian myself I have often wondered and hoped and prayed that you know the Lord and I am jsut overjoyed to find out that you do. Hope to see you someday here on earth but now know that even if I never get the chance again that we are gauranteed of meeting in Heaven. Thanks, Gary Holmes

Dear Merle – The Lord is keeping you fit and healthy so that I will see and here you sing next time you come to Buffalo! You were here a few years ago, but my beloved father was sick with leukemia and we spent the entire day at Roswell Cancer Hospital. By the time we got home to Niagara Falls, NY, and I was to return to Buffalo to see you at the Hamburg Fair/Erie County Fair, I was emotionally and physically exhausted, and sadly missed you! I’ve been asking all of the local venues to please contact and bring you back to Buffalo! I know the Lord will keep you healthy and in His safe keeping because there are many fans who grew up listening to you who still hold tight to what was authentic and unaltered country music… and so I still listen to Merle and say, “That’s TRUE country and what it’s all about”, not the poprock computerized stuff you here today! My dad listened to you and George Jones and all the originals! I saw George Jones for my first time last February – he came to a small theater in North Tonawanda, NY and it was my birthday weekend – it was great! And now I live and hope that one day, I’ll read MERLE HAGGARD RETURNS TO BUFFALO, NY – and I hope to get the best seats money can buy just to see you in person!!! God Bless You and continue to shower you with health and songs! Can’t wait to get your new CD! ~ Mary Corio ? Fan from Niagara Falls, NY

    Merle,

I’m a little like you on beating the predictions of Doctors with long faces. By “man’s” science; I should have been gone long ago. We just aren’t geared to understand God’s reasoning, and why He does the things that He does….except that we know that He does everything towards His glory. But; we do know that He hears and answers the prayers of His faithful children. Sometimes, He says later, sometimes He even says no. But, only He knows what His plan for us in the greater scheme of things…and we must just have faith that He will continue to love us no matter where we fit into His plans. I’m working on a new record, and playing some live again, and having a ball. Best wishes and prayers out to California from Kansas! Oh…. I really like the new record!…..Doc

I have been a fan of yours since seeing your show in 1968 in Williamsburg KY. You and your band stopped at a little restruannt “The Southern Rose Cafe” to eat before your concert and my wife and I were there. Dear Merle,
So glad you hear your doing well and being healed each day. As you Merle, my mother has been through her share of difficult health issues in her later years. Almost 20 years ago now she collapsed with what they found to be a benign brain tumor. Since then she had had several more, but thank the Lord, they were all benign. She has some deficits that make it hard sometimes, but she has guts, she is feisty and she makes the most of everyday. She knows the fact that she can still walk, and talk even with all of that, is a gift indeed! And as with you, the Lord has taken care of her and kept her fighting and living strong! I wish you all the best Merle. I have discovered your music in my 40s, although I have heard your name for years. You were given a gift from God through your music and thank you for sharing it with the world. You have made a difference in people’s lives! I love “Mama Tried”…let’s give praise for all the mother’s who give there all for their families.

    Sincerely,
    Sharon R.
