Let Me Testify
So there is NO misunderstanding, let me testify, the power of the healing our
Heavenly Father has bestowed upon me. In ’08 I was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Most everyone knows that’s a death sentence! Not in my case!
More recently I was diagnosed with a heart problem in two hospitals, in Ft. Worth
and in Bakersfield. Either they both malfunctioned exactly the same way, or
once again, the Lord stepped in and altered the condition. An angiogram proved it
all wrong. My heart is perfect!
It’s almost embarrassing to know that the Lord cares
that much for me. But, I am gonna shout it to the entire world. He healed me either
at my request or someone else’s There were a lot of prayers involved
He also guided the hands of other special doctors and was able to properly relocate
my Atlas. But never for a moment do I give credit or claim any myself.
The Man upstairs is still in charge.
I am gonna be 75 this coming April and I am a walking miracle
I might add a Healthy miracle.
I give all the thanks to my Heavenly Father and to my
wonderful family, Theresa, Jenessa and Bennie.

It is so…. good to hear that the Lord has touched you and healed your body! I live in New Brunswick, Canada and I just finished watching the PBS program on “Learning to Live with Myself” and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ever since I can remember, I have loved your music, Merle! My hubby has your CD’s in our car and wherever and whenever we’re in the car, YOU are the one we listen to!
I pray that you will be around for MANY years to come!
Today, Im saying goodbye to my Mum for the last time. She left us a week ago and I know deep down, she’s in a better place now.
Her last wish was to hear your voice in song, and also that today, on her final journey, she again wants ‘The Hag’ to guide her.
Im singing at her funeral, and I know you’ll help me through!!

Jesus is alive! I am so happy to hear all the faith their is in the world. My husband was healed in the name of Jesus Christ. I saw it happen twice. Praise Jesus holy name. Pray to our father . He will hear our cry for help. BELIEVE IN YOUR PRAYER BEING ANSWERED. So many times I have prayed. Not knowing if I would be heard or if I was worthy. But then someone explained to me that when you pray, to believe with all your heart and faith that he will no matter what answer your cry for help. He knows exactly how many hairs we have on our head. He knows every sparrow that falls. He know what is in our hearts. He made our hearts. I feel so blessed to finally have learned that their is a second step to praying. It’s believing that your prayer will be answered. Without Jesus in our lives we have nothing! I am thrilled to hear that you have been given the green light by the Dr.s. I have been worried ever since I got the bad news. I know that I for one made a request to God that he heal you. Your Mother and my Grandmother Villines/Edgmon were first cousins (Newton County). Would love to meet you someday. Noel and I have meet a couple of times years ago. If you ever wished to make it to the Villines reunion I bet we could keep it under cover- I know my cousin Ann Sims would like that. Just got home from your concert in Spokane, WA. You and Kris put on a great show. As my wife said during one of your up-tempo numbers “He’s still got it!” We always said if you ever came back to our area, we were going to get tickets for your show. So glad to hear of your good health! God must still want you here to share your music and story with the rest of us!
I came to your site today Merle to look at upcoming tour dates and was a bit surprised to see about your latest “problem” with your heart. Merle, I really got to hand it to you and thank you too. Not many people out there in general would give all the credit to God like you have here. I had no idea this was going on with you Merle. I am so moved to hear what God is doing in your life. I found this site when I was looking for your song “Are the good times really over” on You Tube to post on Facebook to make a statement about the situation in our Country today. My son Matt is a song writing major at Belmont University. Even though he grew up playing guitar with me and his mom in church, he is heavily into heavy metal rock so I have not been following country as much lately. I will make a special point to make sure he listens to your songs.
Merle, I neglected to stress how much I respect and love your music. I learned to play guitar to country music and have played many of your songs in bands down through the years. Your patriotic and “love of country” songs were always crowd favorites. My son writes from the heart like you do. He has a song called Semper Fi which could be a rock version of Fightin Side of Me. I wish you all the best and again it is GREAT to hear the good news about your health.

Merle, I think it would amaze you to know how many people think of you and how often you cross our minds, always with a wish for your well-being. Of the blessings and curses of celebrity, this is one of the blessings. I lived in Bakersfield for several years and was a good friend of Roy Nichols. Even applied for a job at your office but that didn’t work out. I have recently begun listening to only your music in my car when I’m out and about and I still marvel at your singing and songwriting. “Hungry Eyes” is about my favorite and I have always loved Dallas Frazier’s “California Cottenfields”. I consider both of those about the best songs written to address the human condition when times are hard. Sometimes when I am listening to you sing, I can’t believe it’s skill ~ that would really be an almost genius effort of awareness. Instead, I honestly thinks it’s just genius natural talent. Thanks so much for everything. For all the hoopla about new artists, hard to get excited when we have already lived in the times with the very best. I am grateful for that….
Thanks to you Merle for sharing all your music with us. First one I really remember is “Okie…” I thought it was a good counter protest song. Then I heard “Fightin’ Side..” and I was hooked. That song convinced me that the right thing for me to do would be to enlist and serve my country. In March 1970 I found myself at USMC Recruit Training Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Listening to Country music has taken me to many places, this was the most important. You challenged me to step up and be a part of something great.
Forty one years later, you are still an inspiration for me and, I’m sure, many others. With “Are The Good Times Really Over” you reminded me that we, as a nation, have a lot of history that has yet to be made.”The Marine Corps motto is “Semper Fidelis”, meaning “Always Faithful”. You, my friend, have been nothing, if not faithful, to all you profess and all that you sing of. You may be ‘only’ 75, but your influence and words will be around for a much longer time.

Merle, You have always been my best country singer.I use to watch Dr Scott and I’ve seen you on his telecast several times,you and him were close and he no doubt had a big roal in you faith .I saw the telecast when you were sick or just recouping.You sang in his church,That’s the way love goes,then that night when he was live on at Faith Center,I saw you give him a special guitar with his name engraved in the neck,you, Dr Scott his wife Melissa and your wife Therese were all there.I thank the Lord has blessed you since then. Since that night I have prayed for you and your family every night.Dr Scott has beat us to glory but he will always be in our heart.a lot of people didn’t like him because he told you the real truth about God and his Word.I probably wasn’t ever meet you here in this life,but there’s no doubt I’ll see you over there.I’m a 62 year young disable Veteran vet, I play and sing your songs ;that were during that time,my to favorite are ” on the fighting side of me” and “are the good times really over” Thank you and your wife for your faith and I will keep praying for you all everynight.In Faith in Christ Steve from Lagrange N.C P.s I also pray for Willy Nelson Hope he is a believer also he’s my second best.

Well as always we are glad to hear that your a healthy man, and we wish you and the family many more happy years. I am a little disappointed, I just got a call from the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara saying the show for Oct has been cancelled. So I hope and pray that everyone is ok. Guess I will go ahead and pre-order the new cd. Well I’m off to find another hag show within our area, we have seen him 3 times this year and I would like to make on more show this year!
