Was so proud to see them give you your due at the Kennedy Center Honors. I am a Kern Co Girl, with Muskogee/Checotah Roots. still got family in all 3 places. (spent a little time at Trout’s and the Barrel house as well as a few other old watering holes. Hubby and I just got our tickets to see you and Kris in Cherokee. I am so looking forward to it.

dear merle,
i hope that you are feeling better. i had won some tickets to see you from my local country radio station here where i live in marion, va. you were gonna be in charlottesville,va. but unfortunatly you became sick. i don’t know if i would of been able to take seeing you in concert, but i was so excited. if you ever plan to come near my home town, i’m gonna go. my favorite song is, “the first time we met” it reminds me of the day i gave birth to my now 20 year old daughter. that was my favorite memory of her. stay in touch. how can i get a merchandise catolog?

Hi I live in England and I am your age and a widdow so it is not possible for me to come over to USA due to finances etc perhaps if I won the lottery I could – wouldn’t that be just great. I would cheer the loudest to you just so as you see me My fav song at the moment is misry & gin but I have so many favs actually all the songs are my favs. My husband introduced me to your music many years ago I am so glad he did because in a strange way it keeps me closer to him and now I have you. I am so sorry you had cancer – my husband had that dreaded thing, he didn’t make it and died suddenly but you are one of the lucky ones and pulled thru’ congrats to al you have done and thank you for your music I love it so much. Be happy and healthy and love your life and make more songs and bring them over to England to Wembly or O2. I’ll be there!!! Lots of love hugs and kisses to you xx

hi everyone Merle has been my favorite since my father played one of his live tapes when i was 12 years old it was rainbow stew.I have since seen him in concert 16 times and i havent got to meet him yet.I did waite in nyc for almost 2 hours when he was touring with the last of the breed”willie nelson and ray price”. I almost got to then but he had to run in to the show.I did get to meet ray price which made my heart pound it was awsome.Their is something about him i love ive seen several other top acts and nobody seems to impress me like merle does.Well anyway i was wondering if they are gonna replay the kennedy center honors i would love to see it.

I watched the Kennedy Center Honors 2010 December 28, and when I saw Merle sitting honoree’s section, I couldn’t stop smiling! It’s well-deserved honor upon a talented man who is truly “The Poet of the common man!

I am so thrilled for Merle. His latest accolades are long deserved. He is a man of honor, dignity, and the arts. One of my true musical and humanitarian idols.

I finally got to meet him on a chilly night in 1999 in Watkins Glen, NY.
I drove almost 7 hours from CT. to see him and his band play at the small Glen Theater.
It was a great show. I’ve seen him many, many times since. But that time, I got to thank him for his music and how much it has got me through some up’s and down’s through my life. In reply, he thanked me! A very special moment. I have a picture of us for posterity.

Thanks for all you do Merle. Take care, Happy New Year and Congratulations.
